On the back of each week's reading log, there is a Meta-Response prompt. The meta-response lets students write about what they are thinking as they read. Below is one exemplar from the week.
When I was reading: Calvin and Hobbes I thought about: the time I though that there were monsters under
my bed. I was so scared I pulled the blankets over my head, hugged my stuffy tight and cried, "MOMMY!' In the book, Calvin thought there were monsters under his bed. he reacted the same way I did.
Happy Trails,
Mr. Rabinowitz
