This Week's Meta Response Exemplar

On the back of each week's reading log, there is a Meta-Response prompt. The meta-response lets students write about what they are thinking as they read. Below is one exemplar from the week.

When I was reading: The Pink Locker Society I thought about: school and when I get a locker. I wonder what I am going to do with my locker.

Happy Trails,
Mr. Rabinowitz

Student work

Yesterday 4th grade readers wrote down what happened at the end of each page they read on a post it. This mini lesson encouraged students to monitor their comprehension as they read. The photos are student selected examples.

This Week's Meta Response Exemplar

On the back of each week's reading log, there is a Meta-Response prompt. The meta-response lets students write about what they are thinking as they read. Below is one exemplar from the week.

When I was reading: Calvin and Hobbes I thought about: the time I though that there were monsters under
my bed. I was so scared I pulled the blankets over my head, hugged my stuffy tight and cried, "MOMMY!' In the book, Calvin thought there were monsters under his bed. he reacted the same way I did.       Happy Trails, Mr. Rabinowitz
